It is safe to use CLR on a Rubbermaid plastic jug for tea?

We have been using the same two jugs for iced tea for over a year, and they look disgusting. They're shaped funny so it's hard to scrub inside everywhere, and my mom mentioned the taste of 'old tea' the other day. I read over the CLR label and it wasn't very clear about use on plastics. Does anyone know for certain? I don't want to use it without being sure.
