Yahoo Messenger- How do I keep it from automatically coming up when I log on?

I can usually cancel it when it pops up, but that's getting to be a pain, and waste of time! (I have to watch and wait for it.) I'd really like to choose when to sign in, instead of being bombarded by anyone online the second I log on, you know?
